Singularu Review 2026:
An Honest Look at Spain's Biggest Jewellery Name

What Singularu does genuinely well, what reviewers keep flagging, and how the waterproof alternatives actually compare. Written by a competitor, kept fair on purpose.

The Brand

Who Singularu Is, and Why Spain Noticed

Let us be upfront about something: we sell jewellery too. So read this the way you would read any review written by a rival, with your guard up. We have kept it to facts you can verify yourself.

Singularu was founded in Valencia in 2014 by Cristina Aristoy. In just over a decade it has grown from a Spanish e-commerce label into a brand with roughly 83 physical stores, which is a genuinely rare achievement in accessible jewellery. Most brands in this price bracket never leave the internet. Opening and running that many shops means real logistics, real staff, real stock discipline, and a product people keep coming back for.

That retail footprint matters. You can walk in, try a ring on your own hand, see how a chain sits, and hand it back if it is wrong. No photograph or returns policy fully replaces that, and it is a problem online-only brands, ours included, simply cannot solve.

It is also worth naming the obvious. Of all the brands we could have written about, Singularu is the closest thing we have to a direct counterpart. They sell a water-resistant steel line and they sell personalised name necklaces. Those are the two things we build our whole catalogue around. Pretending otherwise would be silly, so this article is going to be careful rather than clever.

The Short Version Singularu is a Valencia-founded brand from 2014 with around 83 stores, a water-resistant steel range priced roughly €13 to €50, personalised name necklaces such as the Collar Sue at €55.99, and a Trustpilot score of 4.5 out of 5 across approximately 97,000 reviews.
The Product

What You Are Actually Buying

The Singularu range that overlaps with ours is the one they describe as joyas resistentes al agua, water-resistant jewellery, made in steel. Those pieces sit roughly between €13 and €50, which puts them squarely in the impulse-purchase bracket. A pair of earrings at €13 is the sort of thing you add to a basket without thinking twice.

Alongside that, they make personalised name necklaces. The Collar Sue sits at €55.99. That is a considered purchase rather than an impulse one, and it behaves differently: people research it, compare it, and read reviews before committing. Which is presumably why you are here.

Steel Is the Right Call

Choosing steel for a water-resistant line is the correct engineering decision and Singularu deserve credit for it. Steel does not oxidise the way brass does and it holds a polish. Almost every brand that has solved the "my necklace turned my neck green" problem solved it by moving away from brass, as our guide on why jewellery turns green explains.

Where brands diverge is in what goes on top of the steel. That layer is what you see, touch, and eventually wear through, and it is the part the whole industry describes least precisely. Gold-toned, gold finish, and gold-coloured can mean a dozen processes with wildly different lifespans. We covered the detail in our guide to PVD coating on jewellery.

Two Price Tiers, Two Expectations

A €13 pair of steel earrings and a €55.99 personalised necklace are not the same promise. The first is designed to be cheerful and affordable, the second to be kept. Most of the frustration in any brand's reviews, ours included, comes from judging one by the standard of the other.

Worth Knowing "Water-resistant" and "waterproof" are not regulated terms in jewellery. Neither word tells you the coating process, the coating thickness, or the base metal underneath. Ask about all three before you assume a piece can live in the shower.

The Reviews

What 97,000 Reviews Really Tell You

Singularu holds 4.5 out of 5 on Trustpilot across approximately 97,000 reviews. We want to be clear about how impressive that second number is, because it is the part most competitor articles quietly skip.

Ninety-seven thousand reviews is not a rating, it is a sample size. Plenty of brands sit on a 4.8 built from four hundred reviews, and that tells you almost nothing: four hundred reviews can be shaped by a good month or a well-timed email campaign. At ninety-seven thousand, none of that works any more. The average has been stress-tested by every bad delivery week and every disappointed customer the brand has ever had. A 4.5 that survives that volume is a real 4.5.

A high score on a small sample is an opinion. A good score on a huge sample is a track record.

How to Read Any Brand's Score, Including Ours

Three habits will save you a lot of money in this category.

First, check the volume before the number. Divide your attention by sample size. A 4.5 across 97,000 deserves more weight than a 4.9 across 300.

Second, read the one-star and two-star reviews specifically, and look for repetition. A single furious review tells you about one bad day. The same complaint appearing forty times tells you about the product.

Third, separate service complaints from product complaints. A parcel that arrived late is a logistics problem, and logistics problems get fixed. A stone that fell out is a design or manufacturing problem, and those tend to persist across a whole product line.

Apply all three to us as well. We would rather you bought the right thing than bought from us.

The Honest Part

The Complaints Worth Reading First

Within those reviews, three themes come up often enough to be worth naming: cubic zirconia stones coming loose and falling out, clasps that fail, and rings losing their colour. We are reporting these because they are the recurring themes, not because we think they define the brand. At this review volume, every brand on earth would have a list.

What is genuinely useful is understanding why these three things go wrong, because the same failure modes apply to every affordable brand, ours included.

Stones falling out

Small stones are held by tiny metal prongs or by adhesive. Prongs loosen through knocks and daily friction; adhesive weakens with heat, soap, and time. Pieces worn on hands and wrists take the most punishment.

Clasps failing

The clasp is the smallest, most mechanically stressed part of any necklace, and it is opened and closed thousands of times. Spring rings have the most moving parts. Lobster clasps and slider closures generally take more abuse.

Rings losing colour

Rings are the hardest test any coating faces. They meet keys, door handles, taps, gym bars, and washing-up. Colour loss on rings almost always shows up first on the underside and the edges.

What to ask

Before buying from anyone: what is the base metal, what coating process is used, and is the coating warrantied? Vague answers to any of the three usually mean the answer is not flattering.

None of this is a reason to avoid Singularu. It is a reason to buy the right category from them. If a brand's reviews cluster around rings discolouring, the sensible move is to buy their necklaces and earrings and get your rings elsewhere. That is not a criticism, it is just how you shop well.

How the Other Spanish Brands Stack Up

Singularu does not exist in isolation. If you are shopping this category in Spain you will run into three other names constantly, and they solve quite different problems. Here is where each of them actually sits, without editorialising.

PDPAOLA

Founded in Barcelona in 2014, the same year as Singularu. PDPAOLA works in 925 sterling silver and in 18k gold-plated brass, with a more fashion-forward design language at a higher price point. What matters here is that PDPAOLA makes no waterproof claim. That is not a flaw but a different philosophy: silver and plated brass are traditional materials and come with traditional care requirements. If you want a piece to take off before the shower, it is a strong choice. If you want one you never take off, it is not the category.

TwoJeys

Barcelona, founded 2019. Strong brand identity, heavily influencer-led, and popular with a younger audience. Its Trustpilot score sits at 3.1, with around 20 percent of reviews at one star. The other thing we would flag, neutrally, is that the materials are not clearly disclosed. For a brand at this price point that is a meaningful gap, because base metal and coating process are the two variables that determine whether a piece lasts one season or five years. It may well be excellent steel. Without disclosure, you are buying on trust rather than on specification.

Aristocrazy

Madrid, founded 2010, and part of a long-established Spanish jewellery family. It is positioned as the premium option of this group. Its Trustpilot score sits at 2.3, with roughly 42 percent of reviews at one star, and worn plating appears among the recurring themes. We will leave that there without commentary, other than to say that premium positioning raises expectations rather than lowering them, and reviews tend to reflect the gap between the two rather than the absolute quality of the product.

Read that table for what it is. It is a materials and positioning map, not a league table. A brand with no waterproof claim is not worse than one with a waterproof claim; it is answering a different question.

Full Disclosure

Where Moonela Fits, and Where It Does Not

Here is our own specification, stated as plainly as we can, including the parts that are not flattering.

Every Moonela piece is 18k gold PVD over 316L surgical stainless steel. PVD stands for Physical Vapour Deposition: the coating is bonded to the steel inside a vacuum chamber rather than deposited in an electroplating bath. The result is a harder, denser surface that handles water, sweat, and friction considerably better than conventional plating. Our range runs from about £24 to £60.

What We Are Not Our everyday range is 18k gold PVD coated, not solid gold. It is stainless steel, not sterling silver, and not 925. The one exception is our Azone fine line, which is genuine 925 silver with 18k gold vermeil, and priced accordingly. Anyone in this price bracket claiming solid gold is either mispricing dramatically or mislabelling. We would rather lose a sale than blur that line.

So what does that buy you in practice? Three things.

It does not need taking off. Showers, sea, pool, gym, washing-up, sleep. The whole catalogue is built on the assumption that jewellery you have to remove is jewellery you eventually stop wearing. Our waterproof necklaces and waterproof bracelets are designed around that single idea.

It suits sensitive skin. 316L is the surgical grade of stainless steel, chosen precisely because it has very low nickel release. The PVD layer then sits over the top as a second barrier. If earrings have historically been a problem for you, our tarnish-free earrings are the place to start.

It stays the colour you bought. This is the whole point of PVD over plating. Not permanently and not miraculously, because no coating on earth is permanent, but on a timescale measured in years rather than months.

When Singularu Is the Better Choice

Genuinely, there are cases. If you are in Spain and want to try before you buy, 83 stores beats any returns policy we can offer. If you want the lowest entry price on a steel piece, their range starts lower than ours. And if you would rather buy from a Spanish brand supporting Spanish retail jobs, that is a valid reason and we are not going to argue you out of it.

The Real Difference

The Piece Almost Nobody Makes

If you strip away the branding and the photography, there is one concrete product difference between us and everyone else in this comparison, and it is the reason this article exists.

A personalised name necklace, cut in flowing script, in waterproof steel with a PVD gold finish, is unusually rare. Most brands that offer personalisation offer engraving: your name stamped, etched, or lasered onto a disc, bar, or pendant. Engraving is lovely and there is nothing wrong with it. But it is a fundamentally different object from a pendant where the letters themselves are the jewellery, connected script forming the shape of the piece.

Cut script is harder to make. The letters must be structurally sound, the connections between them must survive daily wear, and the whole thing has to hang straight. Then it has to be coated evenly across every internal edge and curve, exactly the geometry that exposes a weak coating process. That is where the market thins out.

Engraving puts your name on the jewellery. Cut script makes your name into the jewellery.

Singularu do make personalised name necklaces, and the Collar Sue at €55.99 sits in a similar bracket to our own personalised pieces. So this is not a claim that we are alone in personalisation, because we are plainly not. It is narrower and more honest: cut script lettering combined with a waterproof PVD finish over 316L steel is uncommon, and it is what we built the brand on. Our personalised necklaces and initial necklaces are where to look, and an initial is often the safer gift, because it works whether or not you spell the name the way they do.

The Decision

Choosing Between Them in Five Minutes

Forget brand loyalty for a moment and answer four questions about yourself. The right brand falls out of the answers.

If this is you What to prioritise
You want to try it on first A brand with physical stores near you. Singularu's roughly 83 locations are a genuine advantage that no online brand can match.
You never want to take it off Steel base metal plus a PVD coating, and an explicit waterproof claim from the brand. Silver and plated brass are not built for this.
You react to most jewellery 316L surgical stainless steel specifically, not just "stainless steel". Ask for the grade. If a brand cannot tell you, that is your answer.
You want a cut-script name piece Check whether it is cut lettering or engraving, and whether the finish tolerates water. The two rarely come together.
You are buying rings for heavy wear Read that brand's ring reviews separately from the rest. Rings fail differently and faster than any other category, at every brand.
Budget is the deciding factor Compare cost per year worn, not sticker price. A €13 piece replaced three times costs more than a £30 piece worn for five years.

The Question Behind the Question

Most people searching for a Singularu review are not really asking "is Singularu good". They are asking "will this piece still look right in a year". That is a materials question, not a brand question, and the answer is the same whatever the logo on the box: base metal, coating process, and how honestly the brand describes both.

Singularu answers the first two reasonably for their water-resistant line, and the review volume backs that up. We answer them differently, with PVD over 316L across everything. Both are legitimate. Buy the specification that matches how you actually live, and be sceptical of any brand, this one included, that will not tell you what is under the gold.

Your Questions Answered

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Singularu a good jewellery brand?

By the most objective measure available, yes. Singularu holds 4.5 out of 5 on Trustpilot across approximately 97,000 reviews, which is an unusually large sample size for this category, and it operates around 83 physical stores. Recurring criticisms in the reviews include cubic zirconia stones falling out, clasps failing, and rings losing colour, which are worth factoring in depending on which category you are buying.

Is Singularu jewellery waterproof?

Singularu offers a specific line described as water-resistant jewellery, made in steel and priced roughly between €13 and €50. That line is designed for water exposure. The rest of the catalogue is not sold on that basis, so check which line a specific piece belongs to before you wear it in the shower or the sea.

How much does a Singularu name necklace cost?

Singularu's personalised name necklaces include the Collar Sue at €55.99. That sits in a similar bracket to comparable personalised pieces from other brands, including our own script name necklaces, which start at £58.95.

Why do some Singularu rings lose their colour?

Rings are the hardest test any jewellery coating faces. They constantly meet keys, taps, door handles, gym equipment, and washing-up, so any coating wears fastest on the underside and the edges. This affects every affordable brand to some degree, which is why coating process and base metal matter far more on rings than on necklaces or earrings.

What is the difference between water-resistant steel and 18k gold PVD over 316L steel?

Steel refers to the base metal underneath. PVD refers to how the gold-toned layer is applied on top: bonded in a vacuum chamber rather than deposited in an electroplating bath, producing a harder and denser finish. 316L is the surgical grade of stainless steel, chosen for its very low nickel release. A brand can use steel without using PVD, so the two specifications answer different questions and it is worth asking about both.

Which Spanish jewellery brands are waterproof alternatives?

Within the Spanish market, Singularu is the closest match because it has both a water-resistant steel line and personalised name necklaces. PDPAOLA works in 925 sterling silver and 18k gold-plated brass and makes no waterproof claim. TwoJeys does not clearly disclose its materials. Aristocrazy is positioned as premium and does not market a waterproof range. Outside Spain, brands built entirely on PVD over 316L steel, such as Moonela, cover the whole catalogue rather than a single line.

Is Moonela jewellery solid gold?

No, and we will always say so plainly. Our everyday pieces are 18k gold PVD coated over 316L surgical stainless steel. They are not solid gold, and not sterling silver or 925. Our Azone fine line is the exception: genuine 925 silver with 18k gold vermeil. The coating is what makes them affordable and waterproof at £24 to £60, and any brand claiming solid gold in that price range is not describing the product accurately.

Can I get a script name necklace I never have to take off?

That specific combination is rare. Most personalised jewellery uses engraving, where the name is stamped or lasered onto a disc or bar, rather than cut script where the letters themselves form the pendant. Cut script in a waterproof PVD finish over 316L steel is what our name necklace range is built around, with pieces such as the Ella and Astrid necklaces at £58.95.
